The Mahogany Project thanks all of the artists (over 25 playwrights, directors, dramaturg, actors, and technical crew) participating in Transformations for the commitment, support, and talent they provided for these new works. A special thank you goes to the African American Writers’ Alliance (AAWA), the Hansberry Project, and Lyderary Ink for joining the Mahogany Project on this journey. Thank you for viewing this virtual reading. As the play is a 'work in progress,' the audience is an integral part of helping it to come to fruition as a piece ready for a full production. We look forward to hearing your thoughtful questions and observations that you can share via this form, and they will be drawn from during the live virtual discussion with all the Transformations playwrights on June 20th, 2020 from 6pm-8pm as part of the We Out Here Festival 2020.

Stream of all of Transformations: An African American Writers' Alliance Play Festival
Please check back at 6:00 to join the live panel discussion with the writers behind Transformations! The six plays featured show the breadth of the African American experience. The plays are rooted in stories of the past and of the present. They resonate today and give hope to what the future could be. There are moments that may make you laugh or shake your head, and there are some in which you may recognize yourself or someone you know. These plays speak directly and indirectly of transformation within society and within ourselves. As these are staged readings, the plays are still in progress. The majority of the work has never been presented before. The playwrights look forward to hearing your questions and observations of their work as they continue to prepare for a future live production.
